After the first year, our family and friends repeatedly kept asking us "well, have you found a place you want to settle down and stay yet?" The answer was always, "no, not yet". We have now camped in every (mainland) state in the US, and discovered that there is no perfect place to live. There is always some issue at every location, so what we discovered, it that, after coming to the same place for 3 winters, we've found the best place for us.
We first started coming to Happy Trials RV Resort in Surprise AZ 3 years ago because our friends were here. We stayed a month. "Nice place" we thought. Lots of things to do (hundreds of clubs and activities) lots of friendly people, big place (about 2200 lots). Nice weather most of the year (hot in the summer). We came back again the following winter and stayed 3 months. Made more friends and started getting involved in the clubs a little, Jack in the Sawmill (wood shop) I broke my wrist, so that slowed me down... Then this year, we came back again for another 3 months. Friends we'd met before remembered us and welcomed us back with open arms! I joined the stained glass classes and fell in love with the theater group and ended up joining them for next year's performance! We were invited to tons of pot lucks and parties, happiness and smiles surrounded us everyday. This place is pure sunshine. We had long talks...time to think about slowing down...why not here? So, we talked to the realtor. The only way we would do it, is if we could find a lot with a (real) house on it -"one that could fit my roll-top desk and our art work!" That was my criteria...;-)
Well...that's what Greg was able to find us! A cute little home, on a corner lot with a great covered RV pad, a big front porch (that I've grown to love!) that has a perfect spot for my desk and lots of wall space for all (I hope) art work! It's a lot smaller home than we have owned, but at our age, and all we've gotten rid of, that's fine. We will still need to get rid of more (I thought I would have more of a yard...don't). I wish it had a bigger back yard...but we will adjust. I'm finding that our front area is quite the social spot, as it's on the corner and people love to come by and stop and chat - I love that! I'm thinking that we will start a weekly "happy hour" over here like one of our neighbors have at the other location where we were renting before. It works out really well, everyone brings snacks & BYOB and visits for a couple of hours once a week. It's really fun and a great way to get to know each other. I just need more chairs!!
We will still travel...can't give up that bug! It will just be 6-7 months a year instead of 9-11 months.
Life is full of changes..and that's a good thing...
